Ice Fishing Bibs and Float Suits: Striker Climate vs IceArmor Rise V3
Short answer: The Striker Climate has removable insulation, so one suit covers first ice to March. The IceArmor Rise V3 has fixed 150 g fill for sitting still in the cold. Both are flotation assist, not Coast Guard-approved PFDs.

Early and late ice is when people go through. A flotation-assist suit won't replace ice picks and good judgment, but it buys you time in the water, and it keeps you warm on every trip in between.
Important: both brands state their flotation is flotation assist and not a Coast Guard-approved PFD. Wear ice picks, carry a spud bar, and check ice thickness. Know your ice.

How to choose
- Whole-season versatility: the Striker Climate's removable insulation lets one suit cover first ice through March.
- Simple and warm: the Rise V3's fixed 150 g fill suits sitting still in the cold. Pair it with the matching bib.
- Fit: size the jacket over your base and mid layers. Bibs should let you kneel at the hole without binding.
Quick questions
Is a float suit a life jacket?
No. Striker and IceArmor both describe their flotation as flotation assist, not a Coast Guard-approved PFD. Still wear ice picks and check ice thickness.
