Yaktrax Spikes vs Diamond Grip on Lake Ice
Short answer: Yaktrax Spikes use 7 tungsten carbide spikes for glare ice; Diamond Grip uses steel beads on cable for mixed ice and packed snow.

Glare ice after a thaw and refreeze is where people get hurt, often before they ever reach the fishing spot. Slip-on traction is cheap insurance.

Which one?
Glare ice: carbide spikes bite harder. Mixed snow and ice, long walks: the Diamond Grip's beads spread grip over the whole sole.
Cleats help you stay upright. They don't tell you how thick the ice is. Spud as you go.
