Clam vs Eskimo vs Otter Flip-Overs
Short answer: Otter XT Hideout (59 lb) or Clam Legend XT (62 lb) for one angler, Eskimo Sierra Thermal for two (82 lb), Otter XT Pro X-Over Cabin for two when towing (103 lb, side doors).
Updated Oct 13, 2026: added Otter's 1-person XT Hideout.
One shelter for solo hole-hopping, two for fishing with a partner. Otter's X-Over line is heavier but built on a roto-molded sled with a side-door option.

Otter's Hideout page lists 59 lb in its spec table but 76 lb as the shipping weight. I couldn't find a current Sierra Thermal page on geteskimo.com, so its numbers come from Home Depot and Bayshore listings (model 25250), which agree on 22.5 sq ft, 84" × 60", 67" H and 82 lb. Bigger Otter models: Lodge 30 sq ft / 124 lb, Resort 35 sq ft / 145 lb.
Which one?
- Solo, lightest: Otter XT Hideout at 59 lb, with 12.6 sq ft. The Clam Legend XT is 3 lb heavier but gives you 16 sq ft and a sliding seat.
- Two people, pulled by hand or machine: Eskimo Sierra Thermal.
- Two people, towed behind a sled or ATV, rough ice: Otter XT Pro X-Over Cabin, with side doors and the heaviest-built tub.
