Eskimo Outbreak 450XDP vs Clam X-400 Thermal Hub

Short answer: The Eskimo Outbreak 450XDP has more room (75 vs 64 sq ft fishable) and a no-trip door. The Clam X-400 Thermal is 7 lb lighter (50 vs 57 lb) and carries a 3-year warranty versus Eskimo's 1 year.

For the money, a hub is hard to beat. It goes up in a few minutes and rides in a sled. These two are close enough on paper that people ask me about them a lot.

Differences that matter

Room vs weight: the Eskimo gives you 11 more square feet and its flared walls spread that space along the floor, where you actually fish. The Clam is 7 lb lighter and squarer.

Transport: the XDP's 58" pack fits a standard 5.5' truck bed or a tow sled, per Eskimo. The Clam's 64" bag fits a mid-size SUV.

Doors: the Eskimo's No-Trip door opens from ice level, so there's no sill to catch a boot. Clam's Max Entry door still works after you bank snow against the skirt, which is handy on windy days.

Warranty: Clam's 3 years beats Eskimo's 1.
